FINDING STILLNESS

The first phases of personal development + evolution are deeply supported when we approach in STILLNESS.  It is, for many reasons, difficult to engage . explore + evolve when we are in panic, catastrophe or fear ( among other emotions ).  We could look at this through an emotional, spiritual, mental + physiological AND energetic lens… the story would be pretty much the same.

We tap into love and change and evolution when we feel safe… this is the place from which LASTING development occurs.

We are going to explore this together when we meet later this week… so, let’s get the juices flowing.  Use this image of the SOULA METHOD to begin.

THE SOULA METHOD

Now that you have connected more to your DEEPEST WHY and to the rhythm of the group… it would be great to dive more into your STILLNESS PRACTICES or begin to develop them so that this experience is coming from a quieter, more loving place.

I believe we began to discover this process together when we met on Sunday.  However, I figured that it warranted a bit more detail and guidance as this is such a powerful method to use on the daily for stillness, reflective practices and for ‘those moments’ when it is all hitting the fan and you are searching for distance and regulation.

When we are STILL ( and by that I mean regulated in your body, mind + heart ) we can OBSERVE with more perspective and distance than when we are ‘the hot minute’.  With perspective, we open space for deeper UNDERSTANDING of what is shaping such moments, experiences, relationships, etc.  When we understand with clarity we can more ease-fully shift into LOVING AWARENESS… which brings us to a place where we can ACTUALIZE ( bring to life ) what truly matters.

>> L – LOVING AWARENESS
>> A – ACTUALIZATION

JOURNEY WORK

So, I am sure you are asking… so what do I DO with the SOULA METHOD?  Well, it can start with a HEALING SPACE.  This could mean a physical space or practice that you find for yourself.  It could mean stepping out further in a relationship for some emotional space.  It could also mean knowing that each time you feel out of regulation you are going to give yourself space to walk through this method.

Try this for a few days and then we can dive deeper together when we all meet this week!

INVESTMENT #1 . SOULA METHOD

>> Bring in some breath practices that suit your lifestyle right now.  You can try the MEDITATION SERIES in Urban Soula, you can practice noticing breath each time you nurse your babes, you could deepen your stillness practice by ensuring that you sit each day… Breath is Meditation is Stillness says Buddha.

>> Continue to…. notice what emotion you are feeling when you first wake up + meaningful emotions that occur throughout the day.  Record them somewhere… notice if there is a pattern to the time of day, type of day, your energy, your nutrition, relationships, your sleep…

U

>> Take the emotions and sensations you observe and give them some deeper context.  Are there deeper triggers that bring them forward.  Are there conversations lingering that suppress.  Are there aspects of life that are trying to get your attention… You get the idea.

L

>> Ask yourself… how does this serve my bigger picture?  Does this belong to me?  If I allowed this to be softer and more loving what could that look and feel like?  How could this be something that is happening FOR me and not TO me?

>> What is one SMALL STEP that I could take from this awareness to give it a little more life?  What is the smallest step I can take to move this awareness further to feel more rewarding or positive?

You might find this self study series helpful if you are just starting out with a meditation practice.  This is one that I have taught for years as it is very effective and based on the deep purpose of meditation… which is to regulate the nervous system… this, in turn, regulates the body . mind . heart + spirit.
